A release with an entirely befuddling genesis, Acnalbasac Noom was recorded for Polydor by the core Slapp Happy trio with Faust as a backing band in The songs were re-recorded for Virgin in and released as the self-titled Slapp Happy.

Avant popsters Slapp Happy get the two-fer treatment from Virgin on this CD. The first 11 tracks were originally released in as the group's eponymously titled Virgin label debut (and are not the same versions of the tunes recorded earlier with Faust, first intended for release by Polydor, and ultimately issued by Recommended Records -- and by Cuneiform with bonus tracks -- under the title Acnalbasac Noom)/5(7).

This Cd has probably been in my disc player more than any other single album. A product of the early s German Pop Underground, it utilizes various tropes of 20th century pop music (psychedelic rock, Bossa Nova, Tango, cool jazz, avant-garde, etc.) but completely transforms them in unexpected ways.

Made in USA Tracklist on backcover is wrong. Right one is listed above. Correct titles of tracks are inside of booklet. 9: Half-way there/5(8).

Oct 25,  · Slapp Happy‎ – Acnalbasac Noom () The history of this album is a bit complicated. Originally titled "Casablanca Moon", it was recorded for Polydor in , but scrapped when the group signed with Virgin; their first Virgin release was an entirely re-recorded version of the same material, although it was entitled "Slapp Happy" when released.
